In a first of its kind move towards public service for the residents of Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday inaugurated the innovative initiative ‘MLA on Wheels’ beginning from the MLA office at Old Pankha Road in legislator Ashish Sood’s Janakpuri assembly constituency.
The main objective of this special initiative is to bring governance closer to the people, eliminating the need for them to visit government offices to resolve their concerns repeatedly.

As part of this initiative, grievances, essential services, and matters of public interest will be addressed directly within their local area through the ‘Government at Your Doorstep’ program, to benefit citizens with efficient processes, and transparent administration.
CM remarked that democracy is strengthened only when people’s problems are resolved at their doorsteps, adding that the greatest achievement of the mobile office is going to be that it will serve as a direct bridge between the government and the people.
Gupta also shared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always emphasised that the true meaning of leadership lies in service to the people.
She added that this unique initiative of her government has been inspired by the PM’s vision that an elected representative’s position is not one of power but of service and dedication.
Furthering this idea, Minister Sood who conceptualized the mobile office, explained that through this facility, citizens will no longer need to wander from place to place in search of solutions to their problems.
The office which has been placed in a van will travel throughout the constituency, reaching people directly, registering their grievances, and forwarding them to the concerned departments.
A laptop, stenographer, and clerk have been provided in the vehicle to ensure that people’s concerns are properly recorded and immediately passed on for prompt action.
Sood said that the launch of Delhi’s first mobile office by the CM is truly an innovative experiment in connecting citizens with the spirit of “Government at Your Doorstep”.
He mentioned that extensive research had been carried out for this initiative, and it was found that nowhere else in the country does such a mobile office system exist.
This mobile is equipped with Wi-Fi, microphones, and seating for up to 10 people, enabling it to travel anywhere and listen to public grievances.
